You don't see candy counters like this any more--except at Philippe's, where they strive to keep an authentic mood and atmosphere, reminiscent of the early 1900's.
	You could almost mistake this recent photo for one from 40 years ago--the waitresses look about the same, and the crowds are just as busy.
This is a sign from the early days at Philippe's, but it still holds up today--you can still get a hot cup of joe for only 9 cents.
